Yes, I have gotten the flu shot, I am really good on getting my vaccinations. Did the shingles shot, finally got it on the third attempt. First I had been sink in the past week, then the base clinic was out but finally got it. It took two more years before Steve got his. Got the flu shot earlier this year, but it was different than the one Steve got. because his age was older ( 10 months but he had already had his birthday so age was a year older). Wondering if I should always ask for the most potent one. I have had the pneumonia shot also, not risking getting that again.
Was wondering though, what is the risk of getting sick from eating out? I am out in the public relatively little now, being retired and living in the country means a lot of days of semi isolation. Pretty sure the horses, dogs and cats are not going to infect me.
On the brighter side, our final home is about to be finished. We are down to picking out sinks, toilets and counters. Bad news on that front is that the extended cold Kansas has been experiencing this winter means, we still have no septic, or water due to the ground being frozen and the exterior stone and paint are on hold. If you visit Kansas City again, give me a heads up. Still bummed that I missed you in Vegas that time. Still have A fib, four attempts at ablation have not worked, so relying on medications and knowing my triggers. It was probably meant as an insult but the name stuck.

My family has always called the things Maynards, even long after we stopped living IN the City of Atlanta and long after Maynard Jackson was out of public life. The local town where we live has similar cans and may even have a name for them. But we call them Maynards.

"Did you put the Maynard out?"

Only typing this up now does it hit me that probably nobody who might overhear that would have ANY idea what the hell we were talking about, and it probably IS a pretty rude insult. I have no idea why this ran in my family. At the time it began, the adults in the family were City of Atlanta employees. Maybe they had a grudge. They're all dead now so I'll probably never know why they invoked Maynard's name.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8038617295281458757.post-7399261089667074992016-12-25T22:45:31.960-05:002016-12-25T22:45:31.960-05:00That sucks. if someone wants to live in a city th...That sucks. if someone wants to live in a city that respects anything other than status and money, on the whole i would say avoid Metro Atlanta. But one time this summer, I tried to take the bus on a weekday evening during rush hour - I eventually gave up because the bus was so late. Bike lanes are easy to mock an it's the go-to argument: "Bike lanes are stupid so the whole plan must be stupid." I want traffic to be safer, just as quick and more interesting. Right now Peachtree Road is a highway, our most famous street is a lifeless, un-fun bore with some IMPORTANT looking buildings, and I don't feel safe driving on it.Terryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14154846109609330503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8038617295281458757.post-63276423707807297682015-11-25T23:08:24.232-05:002015-11-25T23:08:24.232-05:00If the City or someone could impose off-site impro...If the City or someone could impose off-site improvement conditions in order to obtain approval, it's be a huge win-win for thousands of people passing through the area every day. Mandate they fund the costs of adding a 3rd lane to Sheridan at the light and adding a left turn land from Cheshire Bridge south onto Sheridan east. Everyone wins. Total cost of that i likely under $500,000. Or of course the City could use some of the massive 20 fold increase in property tax collections resulting from this and fund all or part of it..... Adding density without common sense infrastructure improvements is something we do amazingly and other cities have set policies on. I have been watching the house on the corner as well and to my absolute amazement it looks like someone is flipping the house! Is it those times again?

As to the really big house that had open house last week, well I have been watching that one to and the thing about that house that intrigues me is the absence of a sidewalk. I noticed that the property on the corner of Wessyngton and North Highland that was subdivided and prepared for construction has gotten a new sidewalk. The big houses in the middle that were new construction, they got a new sidewalk. Just extrapolating from that one could reasonably reason that all new construction comes with a sidewalk. Thus when this big house for sale became finished I was to be sure bit disappointed that it did not came with a sidewalk. I have e-mailed the city building inspectors but got no response to what the actual rule is. It would be interesting to know when a sidewalk is required and when not.... sure would be nice to have a sidewalk on our street. ;-)Eternalspringhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04321149976509109552noreply@blogger.com
